Jen’s Pasta Sauce

Article By Taylor Thurston

This sauce is delicious. It is so delicious that I sometimes just eat the sauce by itself. That makes me sound like kind of a weirdo… but just try this sauce and you will totally understand.

It also makes your house smell absolutely AMAZING. You guys just need to make this and you can experience all of these awesome things yourself.

I guarantee you that you can whip this up faster than the amount of time it would take to go to the grocery store and buy a bottle of Ragu. Plus, you know exactly what is going into your sauce, and it makes you sound kind of cool when you say you threw together your own pasta sauce from scratch.

Jen’s Pasta Sauce

Olive Oil
1 small zucchini, diced
½ – 1 onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
2-3 15 oz. can diced tomatoes
1 teaspoon basil
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoons salt

In a large frying pan over medium heat sauté zucchini, onion and garlic in a small amount of olive oil. Add the remaining ingredients and stir. Bring to a boil and simmer for 20 minutes.

I like to serve this with either whole wheat spaghetti, spaghetti squash, or (if I don’t feel like I’ve gotten much protein that day) on top of a grilled chicken breast. I put the tiniest bit of shredded parmesan cheese on top, but that is completely unnecessary.

It mostly just looks kind of cute.

That’s what we’re going for here, right? Cute food?
